Older ladies are long as demand in the model business as very young girls. Even better: Mature and prominently. Now, British actress Vanessa Redgrave is to attract the Gucci customer in the boutiques. But it fits together?
Theater icon Vanessa Redgrave will now start her modeling career with almost 80. From films like “Julia” (1977, Oscar), “Blow up” (1966) or “Mission: impossible” (1996) famous actress, now stood for the new cruise campaign of the Italian fashion house Gucci in front of the camera.
That fits! Finally Gucci has made acceptable the Granny-chic two seasons. Inspiration was Chief Designer Alessandro Michele for the photos of the English history of clothes. In collaboration with the photographer Glen Luchford, a mixture formed British tradition and rebellious punk attitude.
Some pieces of the collection work great on the Grande Dame of British film, others seem somewhat incongruous and probably aimed at a younger target group as the main part of the collection. But the PR effect with the celebrity testimonial is of course priceless.
The collection was typical, staged in a British environment. Berlin as a backdrop of the recent summer collection was replaced by the Chatsworth House of the couple of Duke of Devonshire in the United Kingdom. With its elegant interior and charm of the 16th century the right choice for the very british cruise campaign.
Old age models are the trend
Gucci long longer is not alone in choosing an older testimonials. More and more fashion houses put on models beyond the 20, 30 or 40 Philippe Dumas (60) or Yazameenah Rossi (60) brought the emerging old age trend a few jobs. H & M last even Model Lorne McLeod (60) for a swimwear campaign booked.
Even the acting skills of Vanessa Redgrave were in demand. Because Gucci made also a short film to the cruise campaign. The amateurish-looking retro film is the song “my perfect cousin” accompanied by the undertones from the 1980s.
